'Witty, funny, warm and wise' Marian Keyes Is it a break? Or is it a blip? 'You've just had a holiday,' I pointed out, trying not to yawn. 'Wasn't that enough of a break?''I don't mean that kind of break.' There's nothing worse than the last day of holiday. Oh wait, there is. When what should have been a proposal turns into a break, Liv and Adam find themselves on opposite sides of the life they had mapped out. Friends and family all think they're crazy; Liv throws herself into work – animals are so much simpler than humans – and Adam tries to get himself out of the hole he's dug. But as the short break becomes a chasm, can they find a way back to each other? Most importantly, do they want to?

Olivia and Adam were meant to be together forever, or so Liv thought. Upon a tumultuous, fight-filled, jet-lagged return to the UK from their Mexican holiday, where Liv thought Adam was going to propose, he declares that they need to take a break. A few hours later though, he tries to take it back but Liv doesn't budge. She immerses herself in her work as a veterinarian, helping to deliver a calf while hungover, being vomited on by a dog, and other calamities that come with the job. Meanwhile, Adam throws himself into his work as a carpenter, taking on a bar-building project for a beautiful woman, which has consequences of its own. Kelk (I Heart Paris; Always the Bridesmaid) gives readers a glimpse into life in a tiny UK village where news travels fast, and gossip travels faster. Full of laugh-out-loud moments, including getting stuck in a bathroom window; a circus-themed christening, which the baby sleeps through; and animal shenanigans, Kelk's latest is a light, fun read that balances humor with examples of what it takes to make a relationship work. VERDICT Perfect for fans of Marian Keyes, Jill Mansell, and Katie Fforde.--Erin Holt, Williamson Cty. P.L., Franklin, TN
