Pella (White Nights, Red Morning, Bethany, 1996) caps off her popular series set in Russia with another foray into the lives of the Fedorcenko family. It is 1917, and the Revolution is quickly destroying the old ways. Brothers Andrei and Yuri Fedorcenko continue to fight for what they believe, knowing their actions could change their country's fate as well as their own. Other members of the extended Fedorcenko family also struggle with the changes the Revolution has brought to their country, including many that affect their religious lives. If this is indeed the last volume of "The Russians" (as hinted in the author's afterword), many readers may walk away unsatisfied, as it doesn't provide full closure. However, fans will certainly want to catch up with the Fedorcenkos, so libraries with the first six books should still purchase this one.
