"Leanna Ellis has written an emotionally powerful story with an unusual twist to the vampire legend."—Nina Bangs, USA Today bestselling author

What Must We Sacrifice to be Forgiven? Evil returns to Promise, Pennsylvania in this gripping finale of the Amish vampire trilogy...

Samuel Fisher has committed a sin of biblical proportions—he killed his own brother, Jacob. Haunted by guilt and talked by a vampire out for his soul, Samuel starts down the same dark path of destruction that led to his brother's death.

A captivating coming-of-age story unlike any other, Plain Fear: Forgiven pits redemption against temptation, love against fear, and simple faith against the intricacies of sin and salvation. In the gripping final battle between hunters and vampires, Samuel must choose where his loyalties lie. The lives of those he loves—as well as his own ultimate forgiveness—hangs in the balance.

Praise for Plain Fear: Forsaken:

"An intense, powerful novel of love and loss, deception and deliverance."—Nancy Haddock, bestselling author of Always the Vampire

"In a word...captivating. Leanna Ellis creates a world seemingly simplistic but teeming with complexity. Forsaken is a book you won't want to miss."—Elisabeth Naughton, author Tempted

"Leanna Ellis takes readers on a thrilling journey to the dark side of Amish life and beyond. Forsaken exemplifies the ultimate literary juxtaposition of good and evil, and is made all the more powerful by Ellis's ability to paint a vivid and realistic picture of Amish life."—Linda Castillo, New York Times bestselling author

The third entry in Ellis’s ungainly mix of vampires and the Amish (following Forbidden and Forsaken) is unlikely to engage any readers not already invested in the series. Samuel Fisher, young and not fully committed to his faith, struggles with guilt after shooting his brother, Jacob, who had transformed into the demon-possessed vampire Akiva. Jacob, caught in an afterlife with the angel Remiel, yearns to help his brother make the correct choices. Samuel is dispatched to Pennsylvania by his father to assist his injured third brother, Levi, who’s married to Jacob’s former love interest, Hannah. Levi and his family live near Hannah’s sister, Rachel, who has been shunned following her marriage to non-Amish ex-cop and vampire slayer Roc Girouard. Vampiric foes marshal against Samuel and his allies and endanger those he cares about, including his steadfast first love, Naomi. Details of daily life and sincere discussions of faith help elevate the muddy mythology and tepid plot. Agent: Natasha Kern, Natasha Kern Literary Agency.

In Forsaken (2011), Jacob Fisher became a vampire while on his rumspringa in New Orleans. Now Ellis tells the story of Jacob's brother Samuel who is still confused and guilt ridden over his brother's death. While visiting with his other sibling Levi, Samuel is lured away to New York City, where he meets a vampire bent on revenge for Jacob's betrayal. Can Samuel--and Promise, PA--survive? VERDICT Ellis's third entry (after Forbidden) is a richly detailed and atmospheric tale of suspense. Readers who enjoyed Marta Perry's "Three Sisters Inn Trilogy" may want to try this series but should start with the first book.
